Barracks Row's Culinary Education Crawl 2017 - Valentine's Day Edition will be held from Thursday, Jan 26 through Thursday, February 2. Tickets are on sale NOW! Register for classes here.

This annual event works just like college registration. Take only the classes you want at the times convenient to you.  Classes are spread over seven days and nights. You can stack a series of classes all on one day or return multiple evenings for night school.

Tuition costs run from $25 for matchbox's one hour Pizza Making class to $100 for an intensive three hour doughnut baking class at District Doughnut. Class sizes range from 5-6 students to 25 students - average class size is 12 students. Most classes are taught at restaurants but some are held at Hill Center or a nearby business- tickets indicate the street address of each class.

This year we have restaurant participants not only from Barracks Row but also from the Eastern Market area and the Capitol Riverfront.  Several Eastern Market vendors are participating including Mel and Beverly Inman of Market Poultry who will present Poultry Deboning (held in EM North Hall) along with sure-fire recipes for preparing chicken. There are specialized international classes including Cuban Picadillo by Banana Cafe and Asian Dumplings 101 by Nooshi Sushi (vegetarian and meat varieties). Mexico is represented by Aqua301, Belgium by Chef Bart Vandaele's Belga Cafe and Italy by Acqua al 2!

Many classes are available on the event website now, and more will be added throughout the event, so if your favorite is not listed yet or is sold out, check back to see if additional sections have been added! Hill restaurants were swamped last weekend. The complete class roster will be on the website shortly.

And, don't worry... if you have your heart set on our traditional Oyster Shucking class- it's back this year!  Hanks Oyster Bar will teach shucking and even include an oyster comparative tasting!

So, call your friends now and sign up today for the best cooking classes in town!
