FREE Chess Tournaments for students in Grades 2-8

The U.S. Chess Center, in partnership with Barracks Row Main Street, is pleased to again present FREE chess tournaments at Eastern Market Metro Park for 2025.  Students in grades 2-8 that know the real rules of chess and understand tournament etiquette are invited to participate in one or more friendly (and free) chess competitions from 10:30am until 1:00pm on Saturday, April 26th, May 10th, and/or June 7th this summer.  There is no cost to participate in these tournaments and at each event students may play one or more games.  We will present awards to the top players, including top girl and top DC school (so encourage others from your school to register and play).  Space is limited, however, so please register in advance and arrive by 10:20am to ensure your place.  Drop-ins and on-site registration will be allowed; however, we can only accommodate a maximum of 48 players simultaneously.
